I am looking for a book for next week related to Web Design or Design in general. I don't want a book that teaches CSS and XHTML because I already know how to code, and I am very good coder. There is my problem, I am a good coder, but I am horrible with design. I wanted something that teaches design techniques, preferably for the web. If anyone knows of any books to help me out, please post them. Thanks
Link to code? Just curious. Most people would still benefit from an advanced book on (front end) coding. I can only think of 3-4 people on these forums who wouldn't learn anything from reading them.
There are a lot of design books out there. But I know I benifit more from reading design mag's, I mean I subscribed to one and it's helped me a lot, get one every month and it always makes me better.
"Don't Make Me Think" is a pretty good one although its really more about usability than beautification. Really though I think if it is usable and doesn't flat out make your eyes bleed then simple is better is the best rule of thumb.
Even so, being the absolute best programmer does not make up for my lack of talent designing. I have actually seen this one before, I think I will pick it up.
These are good book for web design The Principles of Beautiful Web Design by Jason Beaird The Zen of CSS Design: Visual Enlightenment for the Web by Dave Shea, Molly E. Holzschlag
