The website is www.bookshelfchats.com and is a forum for people to discuss books. Not very busy at all. Please let me know what you think though. Thanks. Tim
I would replace the header with a web 2.0 font and a nice glossy icon of books. Right now, it's just clipart and jaggy font...
like the colors.. but the header and login is way too big.. takes up half the screen - prime real estate ..
I'm not so sure you want to be showing the "forum stats" and "Users Online" at this stage. If prospective users see there's not many people registered, they may choose to stay away. Agree with 8everything about the logo graphic and font. If you can't do this yourself, you can always pay for someone else to do it. (Check out the services section on this forum). If you have a look at http://www.avforums.co.uk you'll see they use the homepage as a compendium of what's inside combined with paid advertising. I think this works quite well but may only be useful once you get lots of content/traffic.
Agree with other comments, logo is a bit clip-arty (get someone on DP to come up with a new one for $50 or so) and hide your forum stat's for now. I'd also like to see further descriptions of the forum categories. Also, get posting under a number of names / get some friends on-board, announce a book of the month and generally breath some life into it. Otherwise, nice forum and I like the idea
I like the themes color, but I think the old style logo reduces its overall impression. Better to change it with web 2.0 style
