I have someone else working on the book cover, but they aren't a typography person. I need someone to come up with the text for the book cover. So please just apply your ideas to a blank black and blank white cover. The title is Second Class Supers. The authors are Annie Knowles and (&) David Peralty. The book title should be in the top third. Second Class are shown smaller above and to the left, in a normal block font. Supers is in large, comic book cover letters. White with a thick black border/drop shadow or the reverse... Maybe dotted in some way. Should be edgy and feel comic book like. The authors should be in the lower third. And should be shown in both black and white font colours. Supers should be easily readable from far away, so please keep that in mind when applying style to the word. I will require a layered file from Illustrator or Photoshop to give to the cover artist to apply it to the final cover design. Note, that means I'll either need the fonts used, or require them to be vectorized so they can scale. Yes, I know this would be easier the other way around, but I want to work on these elements concurrently, and it will only be positioning and sizing that will change from your concept. I'm looking for someone with strong typography to help with this. The final selection will also be used on a website header, so please keep that in mind as well. Contest to end this Friday at 3pm EST. And I will Paypal $30 to the winner. All my best!
FallenShadow - It is a little simplistic. I appreciate you being the first to submit, and you got the concept perfectly. I don't like that in Supers, the S's touch other letters. Second Class and the Author credits don't work at all for me. Can you try some other fonts (look at fantasy/sci-fi books as that's what this will be), and maybe reduce the shadow effects on the author section?
I'll submit some revisions soon when I get back on my computer. And the S's only touch cuz of the border but I can fix that too
Maybe some kind of halftone effect for the word Supers would really help it pop in my mind. And I like the all caps of this as the Second Class - http://www.1001fonts.com/pricedown-font.html (for example)
Did you see my last post? Not feeling the long L/N letters. Can you try to make the letters in Supers look like they are evenly spaced? Don't worry about the colour. The book cover is going to be a digitally painted cityscape scene. All my best!
I used the font from the last post you made. You said you had liked how it looked, so I used it. I'll try another font.
I've tried another popular font as well as spaced out the letters of "Supers". I've got 1000s of fonts so please let me know if you'd like something else.
FallenShadow - I appreciate your effort, but it just isn't working for me. GFX Guru - Not a fan of the author font, and I wish the Second Class was a bit thicker of a font, but otherwise, this looks fairly nice. Especially the ones that aren't outlined. puttu - Font looks too star wars like. Not a fan of the halftone effect version you did either, sorry.
