Cover should be based on one of the three photos provided. Cover submissions should: · Have a soft look · Emphasize blue hues where possible · Display a look and feel that draws in the viewer · Include a tiny, hidden owl somewhere on the book cover. It should be small, and take some looking to find. · Include Title and Author o Title: Ally the Brave o Author: Kate Dellett We don’t want the cover to look like it is just a photograph, so please ‘render’ the photo with artistic elements to give it a softer, less detailed look. As some background, the key themes in the book include the 3 girls, the boy in the red baseball cap in the background. Much of the book’s activity occurs on the playground, near the basketball goal or near the trees in the background, or near the shed. · If using photo #1 or #1a for your submission, please note that the girl in the middle is looking at the boy leaning against the goal, while the other two girls are interacting with each other. Crop or extend photo as needed. If possible, include the two extra kids (from photo #2) in the very background swinging or playing. · If using photo #2 for your submission, please clean up the shadow by the shed. Crop or extend photo as needed. Remove the word on the back of the girl’s white shirt, consider filling in the grass in the brown spots. And, if possible, include the two extra kids in the very background swinging. We’ve included two reference book covers (reference only1 and reference only2). We don’t want submissions to look exactly like either of these (and we don’t like the color schemes), but these references illustrate to some degree what we mean by rendering the photo to look more artistic and less like a photo.
Just a few more hours.... as requested. Really starting to like the basketball court on the back and the 3 girls together on the front!
Thanks to all participants! Kate Dellett will be reviewing all entries and now and making the final decision. The contest is now closed. I will announce the winner when Kate has made her choice.
Congratulations Frikusha... Entry #6 has Won! Thank You all for your time and effort! It was a very tough decision.
