What does it mean when Google shows additional links about a keyword?

For example, if you search on Microsoft it shows microsoft.com as the first link of course. Then it has links to the Microsoft Download Centre, Windows XP etc. all before the second search result.

I've got one website that these extra links show up on, but what does it mean? Am I authoritative for the keyword or something?

Thanks for the info, I found the full details from google.

Unfortunately, they only show for some search words for my one domain that has it. I've been ranked #1 for a few years, so I guess google likes the site. I was just wondering how they get there, manual, automatic etc. The link above answers everything you need about them.

That's good. You already got site links. Google is displaying sitelinks these days even if your not on number 1 position.
