Has anyone seen this before? Is there anything to this or is it just a waste of time?

    Sounds like pasta!

I'm sorry but what is the question?

I've looked at the site - are you trying to put a link to it or what?

Wayne, this is definate spam. You link to soulpak.com but give the link as http://www.soulpaks.com/rank_gift_baskets/rank.asp?status=checkin&member=wayne

that &member=wayne means you're trying to earn affiliate commissions from inbound links.

Any kiwi members around will understand when I say

    "jeez wayne"!

I am asking if it is worth my time being in there? I pointed you to the website so that you could see it..... That memeber equals wayne means I had to sign up with them. I earn no commissions from it.... Please before you go slamming someone for things which you assume but obviously do not know; at least read their policy to see if they are a commission giving website; which they are not. Thank you.

What my question is....... Is it worth my time to have the website in there and watch it?

That is what I want to know... Someone else told me that those places are just scams.....

Is this true? How do you tell if a place is a scam or is it legitament?

I have links on such pages. I don't link back to them because it requires some ugly banner or button. It isn't worth it for the traffic but in some cases it is for the link. If it's a decent PR page with not too many links, I'd go for it. Some accept html as the description so you can think of your own anchor text etc.

The site you mentioned has too many links, and too low a PR though IMO.

Yep .. sometime they can be a good idea .. but this one has too many links & a low PR like TOPS30 said ... plus it doesnt display backlinks meaning most sites there have a low PR so its unlikely that they get a lot of visitors let alone some of them click through by some lucky chance to your site.

I'd say its a waste of your time and links to send one back to this place- atleast until their PR and traffic increase.

Although you seem to be getting a similar message from all on this forum...I completely concur that this particular one could be a waste of time.

Does anyone know of any places out there that are good for these things.... Does this hurt the website being up there or can I just leave it be and it will not cause any detrimental affects on SE placement of the website?

If it will hurt in any way, I will remove it... if it will not then I will just leave it be.

Thank you for all of your replies and help.

Generally speaking anything linking back to your site or even mentioning your site can't do you any harm - if it could then anyone could sabotage any other site. Where the problem might lie is in your link to the site and Google takes the view that the site is not very 'useful' for visitors.
