My son is back to lifting again. We moved so his workouts got interupted.
I sold most of my gear off, but did keep some dumb bells, cardio equipment and my utility bench.

Last week he started up again, just did a chest workout tonight. He's damn near stronger than some of the grown men at the gym! :p

Ok maybe not yet, but give him a little time :D

    My $0.02...

80% of your gains are from your diet.
Get the diet right before anything else ;)

^^Yes, there is absolutely no reason to exercise if your just gonna go to Mc'Donald's after a hard workout.

I've got a few friends who would go to work out, to build muscle AND loose weight, then will go eat something full of sugar etc, or go home to have fast food :| I really don't see why I bother helping them lol.

My diet is in tact, and i'm doing a good 2lbs a week now, and building muscle at a good rate.

Yes some can, a proper diet though could get them that much stronger and leaner ;)

The guy I workout with at times drinks, smokes and eats like crap. Yet he's leaner than me and built better

I'm stronger but I also have 55 pounds on him. :D

I'm starting at the gym tomorrow. I have an appointment with the trainer and everything.

It's been a few years since I did any serious lifting and I can't wait to get back to it! :D

Drinking is like poison to a properly trained body IMHO.

But indulging on occasion is not going to kill you, or your properly trained body, IMHO. :p

So, I started at the gym today. I was hoping for an actual workout, but today was just paperwork, and interview with the trainer that will be working with me. I also got a tour of the place and a brief explanation of all the equipment... Next Tuesday, I have an appointment with the trainer and she is going to test me out on all the weights to see where I need to start... Such a slow process. I want to just get started already!

Think you will be dissapointed if you want to get started with weights right away.

When I joined the gym, they made me do pushups, pullups and shoulder presses only for 6 weeks or so(and rightly so).

Dont know if they treat women any differently :p

Btw, you interested in weight training? - coz most girls just want to do aerobic/cardio exercises

    I read bodybuilding.com (their forum) a lot.

sorry, i didn't read this whole thread =)

i advise you check out their forum, a lot of pro body builders are on that forum. (or people that compete)

also, you would need a balance diet, probably need some fish oil, whey protein, casein protein, and if your up for it, creatin. you'll also need multivitamins, and a strict workout, and good sleep :p

i do body-building to be in shape
working out makes you feel extraordinary and full with energy

my advice is: make a schedule for each day(monday-friday) and every day work different muscle parts

lift as much as you think you are capable of, lifting more can cause quite severe injuries

NEVER(i mean NEVER-EVER) TAKE STEROIDS! they are full with artificial crap and the only thing they will do is pump up your muscles like baloons, and if you quit taking them your muscles will shrink down

I do cardio about 5 days a week (on a good week). I seriously need to tone & strengthen, so for that I'll hit the gym 2-3 days a week.

Who has time for that???

Maybe this is all you get for $20/month. ;)
