    Hey,

Are there any body builders at DP?

I've recently decided to start bodybuilding, and want some good advice.

Not likely you will find many here. I use to do bodybuilding a few years ago. It takes time and commitment.

I used to be in weight-lifting quite a bit when I played Basketball. I did it mainly during off-season of course. But it certainly wasn't really body building. The only type of body builders you'll find here are those like me with the "table muscle". ;)

Yes, funny enough I am a body builder, only been at it for around 2 months, but my diet and routines are great atm.

ahkip, if you want to get stronger (as a whole) then just focus on compound exercises, just google it and you will get lists and images etc.

Sorry but 2 months you're barely a beginner, compounds are great but not the end all solution especially for 'body building'.

I used to bodybuild for about 2 years. Gave it up now cause of illness. What kind of advice are you looking for?

Eat healthy, whole foods. Eat about 5-6 small or medium meals a day. Drink alot of water. As far as supplements, dont go crazy and dont invest too much money into it. If you take anything go for L-glutamine and/or L-arginine. Both great amino acids bb'ers use and helped me alot.

My last few months of lifting i changed into a "weight-lifter" rather than a bodybuilder. It's all about what you want. tell me your goals nd i'll tell you how to get there, you got my AIM in my profile

I would seriously recommend a good protein shake above taking L-Glutamine or L-Arginine seperately, especially to start. A good shake will have more than enough BCAA and standard amino's for most newcomers to lifting.

i have musclemilk. if you use a shaker, its clumpy and not very good. i have to put it in a blender, then the taste is ok.

i drink chocolate 100% protein shakes as well that are quite tasty.

I'm just looking for a good bench to buy, I prefer free weights than machines.

I have protein shakes already. I have Pro MR advanced protein shakes.

I can't stand artificial chocolate flavour :p This strawberry is nice, but I prefer vanilla overall :p

I want to increase the look of my body to a more toned look, and get alot more strength.

Protein shakes are wayyyyyyyy too over-rated. I mean they're good if you're not looking to bulk nd just on a strict diet, but chances are if you're lifting and wanting to put on mass you'll be eating alot more too. Whole foods like chicken, steak, etc. have more than enough protein for your body if you're eating alot. Alot of ppl waste hundreds of $$ getting protein powder while they're probably pissing out 2/3's of it.

But i have a biast view with bodybuilding, i like compound lifts and training similar to what football players do so alot of what i say probly isn't exactly what a bodybuilder needs. Do what works

A lot of leg workout. Leg press, squats, then of course you want to just get bigger, faster, stronger. So the standard things such as bench press, curls, and basketball requires some decent triceps, so don't leave them out. ;)

i've been doing it for a year, and my suggestion is to get high protien after working out and working out certain areas in a day rather than the whole body yeilds better results.

If you wanna be short then start body building..

My words means that unless you are tall enough do not start body building. As you will stay short when you will be doing it...

i used jumpshoes before. i gained about 8 inches on my vertical in 7 months. i was dunking with no problem. then i blew my knee out. i dont think the 2 were related cause ive always had knee problems. that was about 8 years ago. in fact, i just bought another pair to try again.

i would recommend getting jump shoes and follow their exercise routines to improve your hoop game.

    I'm almost 6' 3 and I don't mind if i don't grow anymore :p

I need to sort my diet out properly, and get some decent equipment.

How many hours a day do you train, and how many times a week?
