Hello DP community. Do you think board games are still popular nowadays? What is your favorite game and why? Do you know any online store which I can purchase rare board games? Playing board games used to be our (family and friends) pastime. Wondering if it's still "in". :) Hope to hear your feedback, thanks!

Board games are definitely making a comeback amidst all the screens and gadgets.

Find a cool one and bring it out when hanging out with friends. You'll see eyes light up.

great to know there are still people who can appreciate the games.

yes, I used to play there too. love playing monopoly there :)

agree! the feeling is different when playing the real game compared to playing online. both are fun but the company of friends is what matters ;)

Nowadays: Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico. It's nothing like Monopoly. You need to have a strategy.

I remember I would play Sorry and Monopoly with my family. Me and my sister wouldn't talk to each other for at least an hour after we finished playing we were so competitive and couldn't stand to lose to one another. The good ole days.

Did you have the "I'll buy that too" syndrome. That would drive my family insane.

I grew up playing board games, and in my opinion the best is wei chi, an ancient Chinese game that is even more complex than chess:

Has anyone played "Apples to Apples"? It is a fun and different board game. You need at least three people, however.

Carcassonne is wonderful. But let's not forget the wargames which are anyway boardgames. Like Axis & Allies.

    Chess for me too.
One just can't beat the feeling of havign the board in your mind, palying your oponent rather than the board, x ray and intricate strings of attacks. And these all from the simplest of action, moving a piece.

Chess is so purified, striped to esentials, I believe it will go on for as long as there are people on earth.

I suppose that I should be flattered that you decided to copy and paste, word-for-word, my earlier post on this thread but I am not sure what you are hoping to achieve with this post. You actions have been duly reported to the Moderators, of course.
