I didnt know where to start this thread, sorry if im on the wrong section. Im looking for a good-cheap web hosting service and i thought lunarpages was great but when i was about to pay it says i have to pay them more than 100$ (1 year services). I dont want that, i want to pay monthly, so lunarpages is not my option. I went to bluehost and they have a great service too, same price and all, but when im about to pay, it doesnt say if I'm going to pay $7.95 at that moment or more than 100$ (12 months plan). I know it looks like im going to pay $7.95 but im not sure? im going to use my brothers credit card, and he says he has no more than 40$ so i dont want to mess this up. (dont worry about how im going to pay the second month) thanks.
Bluehost is an up front deal too. If you want cheap hosting go to Godaddy. You can pay monthly very cheap $4 but there is no cPanel... the backend sucks but it's basic cheap hosting.
Depends on what you need. For cheap hosting you can go with Godaddy or Bluehost. Bluehost is nice b/c you can host up to six sites with one account... do the math.. very cheap. If you need a little more check out http://www.liquidweb.com/ they offer VPS as well as managed dedicated servers. We use them for Site Sift and are very happy with the support.
I was going to set up a forum (smf just in case). But when i read the bluehost and lunarpage features many ideas came out of my mind(sub mains, more than one website...etc...) So i guess godaddy is the one even tho bluehost and lunarpages are better...Im going to save some cash.

You might look into www.nearlyfreespeech.net. In a way, it's pretty minimal. They use their own custom control panel which is getting a face lift just now. Friendly hosting, tiny company. You pay only for the bandwidth/diskspace you use. It's something like $0.01 per MB of disk space per month, and $0.01 per GB of bandwidth. They've recently upped the pricing for MySQL space--I think it's like $0.012/MB/month. So far, I've had good luck with them. I've been esp. happy with all the different CGI choices you have--perl, python, ruby (although RoR performance blows) and even clisp. They're working on getting a promotion going where you automatically get $0.02 credited to your first account, so you can try things out for free. I think they're going to restrict the ssh access, but you'll still be able to set up a useful site and get an idea about how it works. I think it's worth looking into.
In my opinion, site5.com is the champ right now, followed by hostgator.com Bluehost is not a bad choice, but I think you'll be happiest with site5.
I have been usibng http://Boundgrid.net for a couple of years. $7.95/Month. Unlimited domains, subdomains and they offer FrontPage extensions which was important to me. Never used Bluehost, but I imagine they have a price for monthly and yearly. I pay $7.95 per month for my hosting but it is only $5.96 a month if paid yearly. If I had any sense, I would pay by the year. Hey Corey, Happy New Year
