    hello everyone,

I have been sending out bulk emails to clients and recieved the below letter. Should i switch hosts or continue what im doing? do they know from the amount im sending or the amount of failed requests im recieving? is there another host that is cool with bulk emails?

    Dear Customer,

We have received several complaints that your site has been participating in spam emails, which violates the Terms of Service which you agreed to when you signed up your account with us. We have zero tolerance for accounts which contain material that has been promoted through sending unsolicited email (spam), or through mail fraud schemes, or contain pages that promotes or condone the sending of unsolicited email.

You are required to follow these spam rules while hosting with us.

    1) No purchased lists. All people you send to MUST have contacted you directly & asked for the information you are sending.

    2) The list must be double opt-in.

    3) You must have an automated opt-out/unsubscribe link.

You currently have full account access to find & fix the issue. If you did not send these messages, you will want to update any scripts & looks for files that have been added to your account without you knowing. If this is a mailing list or blog, you would need to clean it up or turn off the notification options. Please feel free to contact us again if we can be of further assistance.

    Thank you,
    Abuse Department

Every shared host has limits on the amount of emails that you can send per minutes, hour, and day. For example, last I checked lunarpages has the following limits: 20 emails per minutes, 600 emails per hour, and 14,400 emails per day. Your best bet is to use a newsletter script that can manage the emails you send out by time period. I guess I should ask, what are you emailing and how many emails are you sending out a day?

Is it your list or a list you bought from some one else?

There are websites which offer free services for delivering mails.
But they charge if the list of e-mails is too big...

Bluehost's message seems pretty clear and what they are asking is very reasonable.

If your messages are getting enough complaints to get Bluehost's attention then you are doing something wrong. Either you are sending messages to a list you bought (almost always unacceptable; there are no "clean" lists for sale at a price you could afford), or you are failing to provide a reasonable unsubscribe mechanism. Fix your bad behaviour and you will have no more angry messages from your hosting provider.
