Bluefind Diretory?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by candysmith, Feb 14, 2005.

I'm very curious how Bluefind.com have a home page PR8 but very few pages that are linked to from the home page have been spidered by Google and those that have been spidered have PR0. I know this site has been around since before the previous Google PR Update so what is up with this? What am I missing here?

I want to submit my sites but I am wondering what the point is of submitting and paying for a listing in a site that doesn't get its Travel pages spidered.

Any feedback from anyone who is in the directory would be most welcome.

spidered or not, DONT PAY, $50 is a joke, there are lots of free directories
on the web...use those. (or find something a lot cheaper)

Depends on whether you want to risk it or not. $50 one off fee is not alot of money for potentially pr6 or 7 links. They have obviously been done by some penalty, most likely duplicate content. I have see lots of my sites pages come and go, bluefind is no different.

I currently see no reason to submit to Bluefind.

You can buy two to three PR 5 or 6 directory links for that price.

I guess thats your preference, all i'm saying is keep an open mind. There are lots of directories out there, very few offering the exposure and PR benefits that bluefind did and could still offer.

But why not wait until they have PR again then?

I see you reasoning, but I like to try everything to stay ahead of my competitors. If this means taking a chance on $50 so be it.

The site's got quite a few BLs and heaps of pages spidered. Seems legit to me, although I could be wrong.

As far as the internal pages not being ranked is concerned, the fact that they don't show a PR could simply mean that the website's structure was changed after the last PR update. It also doesn't mean that the pages are not ranked, as the visible PR is not the same as the PR used for calculating SERPs.

Finally, I would also partly agree with one of the other posts here. There are heaps of other free directories that you can submit your site to, for free:
Here is one useful little list created by one of our members.

Having said that, a site with PR8 is awfully tempting to get a link from. I am seriously considering it myself! :) (although $50 from an internal page is quite expensive)

$50 for a permanent link? I consider that to be relatively cheap even if the site was PR1.

John had mentioned that alot of the pages which had no listing got dropped by google (thus leaving them without PR), since then I beleive the structure has been altered to accomodate and more pages have been spidered and indexed.

I agree with everything thats been said - thanks for the input.

It is very tempting because of the number of BLs they have and the PR8 that may get transferred and be a PR6 or PR7 back link. I agree with taking a chance on 50 bucks - I've spent more than that on getting s-faced!

but i also agree that i can buy backlinks for less and believe me I've been doing that. Have submitted to nearly all the free directories i can find (if they look ok) and keep finding new ones every day. Seems like thats a new fad... make a directory.

Thanks for all the help everybody!

I'll contact you after the next PR update, once my new site's ranked. Should be a PR4 (at least) or PR5 (most likely). You can buy permanent links on one of the internal PR2-3 pages then for $50 each! How many links would you like? :D

If I know you will market the website on the same level as bluefind you got yourself a deal, however I doubt this is the case. Basically what I am trying to say is how much can you expect to get from $50? Like Candy said, most of us have "spent more than that on getting s-faced!" why not pay that for a lifetime link?

One of the members "haichi" was selling PR6 home page links for $60 per annum. Here's his website: http://www.kreyol.com. You'll find the links towards the bottom of the page. He only had 20 spots to sell, not sure if he's sold them all.

Direct leads from Bluefind? I don't believe that for one second.

Unles bluefind was ranked highly for your search term.

How else would you expect sales to be generated if it wasn't ranked well at one point.

    That was my point.

I was unaware...until now that bluefind had good rankings for some keywords.

I don't see any quality rankings, anymore. Odds are that sooner or later they will recover, though.

That would be nice. I have about 12 listings between bluefind and sevenseek.
