does anyone know what programs are used to take for instance a video of someone in front of a blue screen and add a background to that video?

    thanks a lot.

    Just a thought...

I presume you are asking because you want to do this...

While I personally have never shot video with a blue-screen background, I have researched it over years as a videographer. For the most part, your lighting is extremely important in order to avoid getting "halos" around the subjects in front of the blue screen. There are more expensive systems where the lighting does not matter so much, but I presume you are not talking about a very expensive production here.

So, if you get results that you are not happy with (halos and such), look first to your lighting.

    Good luck with your project.

lighting is definitely a key element is chroma keying. also for your green screen or whatever, make sure that there is no wrinkles or creases as these are a real bitch to work around sometimes and often lead to unwanted agony.

Thank you for info. I was too looking for help on this topic. I wanted to shoot a small video sequence of me and my friends and was trying to replace the background with something else. Now I think I know what to do.

as said before lighting ins the key. You should also use a green screen. I did this for http://www.boxedclever.net using a green screen (thats not me in the vid)

Sony Vegas or Ulead Pro Video Studio Ten are your best bets. I can hook you up with the software cheap if you PM me.
