The world of LASERs is going through a bit of a revolution at the moment with new cheap source of 1000mW blue lasers being found ( Casio hybrid laser/led office projector ) , these diodes are normally $2500 EACH , but the casio contains 24of them and you can buy the whole unit for $800

So hobbyists and enthusiasts have been tearing these units apart to install the diodes into laser projecotrs and laser pointers

    and other things

This is all great news for hobbyist an enthusiasts but theres a bit of done side in that one laser comapny wicked lasers is marketing this aa a sexy laser pointer product at a price available to most teenagers $200 and most agree this is too powerful a unit to be in the hands of mass consumers. This unit is called the ARCTIC and theres talk of orders now reaching 10,000 units , theres a competition to win one HERE

Great colour , amazing power ... just a bit too dangerous for general use methinks

The artic laser looks very dangerous. I listened to a premiere laser engineer (older guy) who bought a Chinese laser because it was the most powerful. He was a trained laser expert/engineer. He hurt himself because he didn't believe how powerful the manufacturer claimed the laser to be. :)

RF Micro is a company I follow closely.

These amazing lasers have started to arrive with people , they look incredible , but dangerous. They have also put the price up to $300 , although buyiing parts and a flashlight housing you can build your own for $100 ! :)

Theres a compeition to win one on a forum here http://lasertainment.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2
