I have a few Bestbuy gift cards burning a hole in my pocket and would like to buy some blu-ray movies with them. I haven't rented or seen anything recently, so I really don't know what is any good.

I was thinking of maybe getting District 9.

    Any suggestions?

District 9 is an awesome choice for your first Blu-Ray.

The special features are really great -- there are 20 minutes of deleted scenes (all are pretty good).

some of the deleted scenes still have one of the actors in a spandex "bug suit" they used for filming (prior to adding in the CGI prawns).

There are FOUR making-of-the-movie featurettes -- some of the scenes with Sharlto Copley are really funny.

That scene in the commissary (where the actors eat during filming) he shows the narrator how to use your prosthetic "Prawn" hand to eat spaghetti.
