I think we are farther off for VOD to disk than we think. I think we are at least 10 years from a viable solution for video downloading. People will want their discs.

Paramount is coming back - 90 days or less. Lots of links around the net today about it.

I can agree with that. They are expensive if they aren't on sale.
But worth it in my eyes.

I don't mind either also. I just want to pay for the movies I think will last the longest is all.

I'm a fan of Blu-Ray DVDs, I wonder how long before the next format comes out.

Its blu-ray but I know what you mean. I also am poor due to buying to many discs. That is why I am selling some of the ones that sucked it up.

Pretty biased first post there :p

Anyways, it doesn't matter. In 10 years the next big thing will be here and there will be another format war.

Unless one has a PS3 it's pretty silly to be biased seeing how there's a good chance drives that does both will be priced about the same as the stand alones that does either blu-ray or HD DVD. Thus unless I get a PS3 anytime soon I say both.

I'd pick a backed up hard drive before either one tho :D

I am biased because I have a PS3 BUT to 2blind2c# they have stopped making dual format drives already. CES has shown that already. HD DVD is pretty close to dead, or at least has a very large limp.

marketing alone BR has a huge advantage. I've never seen a HD DVD display in a store, saw a BR one @ Target yesterday...I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame...my wife had to pry me away :D

As a PS3 owner, I voted Blu-ray, but I don't really care. I only buy a handful of (music) DVDs each year anyway.

Who the hell wants to watch Beverly Hills Cop in HD anyway? :p

That is a great point. I mainly purchase Blus' for the movies that it will really show. Coming to America, I think DVD was as good as that movie will get !!
