That's the point. There are people out there that need it badly! One unit of blood can save 3-5 lives. And it only takes about 15 minutes to do it. And like the OP said, free cookies are involved. Give it a try!
Well done to everyone who donates. I think giving blood is such a good thing to do! I give whenever I can - generally 3 times a year. The blood vans come to my office - so makes it very easy I think I'm on the bone marrow register too. That would be scary I think - I've heard donating bone marrow is painful. But would hate to think I'd let someone die if I could have helped - hence being on the register anyway.
BTW guys, it is really healthy to renew your blood - I was told so by a doctor while donating one time
Just think, you require some blood, then after it's done, you find out you have blood from da King of da Wackos!!! I've donated once.
That is a scary thought... But they do test the blood and get rid of any that would be unsafe to use.
