Wordpress, you have much more freedom and you do not have to stick to it! You can always switch to another script because you are hosted on your own domain.

I had the very same question in a thread I started... generally, the answer to my question was: Wordpress. They suggested to also get your own URL/Domain. Good advice I think. Is Wordpress free like Blogspot? Or does it cost money for the URL? That I don't know... hopefully someone can answer that.

This is VERY good advice. If you are not very experience with HTML, or PHP WordPress can be a massive headache to use. While there are many themes out there the quality and usability of many of them will depend on your ability to understand and alter PHP scripts.

I am a new blogger, and I use WordPress, but I must say I have regretted the decision more than once. It is much more labor intensive to implement than Blogger. If you do not have excellent support from your webhosts, or make a couple of very useful friends here lack of knowledge of PHP can cripple your blog. I have spent hours pulling my hair out, and cursing under my breath because something that was supposed to work one way simply would not. Even trying some suggestions from here proved fruitless.

While I enjoy WordPress I would disagree that WordPress is easy to use unless your are a developer, or very experienced PHP dabbler. Many of the interfaces in WordPress are counterintuitive in their organization structure if you have much experience with Windows based programs.
