If you are newbie I would recommend to go with Blogspot. Their user interface is much more friendly to newbies compared to Wordpress.

If you have some knowledge in create website or coding I would recommend to go with Wordpress. Their user interface may be too little complex but you can adjust almost everything you wanted. Wordpress is more flexible compared to Blogspot in this case.

For SEO view point word press is better then blogspot; But if you want to use adsense then go for blogspot. Because I think wordpress does not allow adsense.

WordPress is better, at least in my opinion. We've used it for client websites as its easy to customise & many companies we work with are already familiar with the user interface. Its always better to have it installed on your own hosting though as this gives you 100% control over the SEO.

When it comes to search engine optimization, WordPress offers a lot of control for creating SEO elements for individual posts. If you do not want to have to think much about your search engine optimization, then you should strongly consider going with WordPress. It will all be plug in and publish.

If however, you have fallen in love with the idea of using Blogger, it can be made SEO friendly. You will have to willing to put in a little bit of work, in finding and installing all of the needed plug-ins.
