blogspot.com and wordpress.com

Hey, do you think it is harder to make a successful blog using a free hosted blog on blogspot.com or wordpress.com?. I'm thinking of making a long term blog using either blogspot or wordpress. although I noticed that on wordpress they sometimes have forced adsense. I just for some reason like the idea of a wordpress or blogspot hosted blog such as techblog.wordpress.com or techblog.blogspot.com

    Any thoughts?

I think WordPress is more difficult using the free hosted version.
Just my opinion, and I sure many will differ.

I would think blogspot is better not technical or features wise but that it is supported by Google, a lot of posts mention it is easier to get your adsense approve if you start a blog there. So I guess it would be definitely better to have Google with you than against you.

Blogspot blogs are very easy to do and very user friendly. There is not a lot to figure out and you can be up and running in a few minutes. Wordpress takes a little more to do. You can add adsense with a couple of clicks in blogspot and move it anywhere on the site.

It is very easy to set up wordpress on a very cheap hosting package... and the options are endless.... If you are serious about what you want to do... Get your own domain name/package quick... I can help with the set up (so can 1,000s of others here at DP)

I agree, for a free blog I would go with Blogger, as you can put your own Adsense and affiliate links. You can't do this with wordpress.com blogs if I'm correct.

I was able to add Adsense to my Wordpress blog (took me some trial and error though).

Blogger and the free (severely limited) version of WordPress are for newbs. If you want to make it big, you will have a far better chance with your own domain and the proper, full version of WP.

Obviously there are exceptions, but I'd say the above statement holds true more often than not ;)

I just hopped over to WP from Blogger, and I'm having a helluva time...because evidently...I am a newb...and effing proud of it!!! What a lot of trouble this WP crap is!!! I am considering abandoning the entire idea of WP...I was even starting to get revenue from Adsense on my blog...now I can't even get ads onto the new WP one.

Much too technical for my taste.

Just cough up the $5 a month or whatever for hosting and get your own WordPress. It's the best way.

i prefer to host my blog on my own hosting. dont like to host blog on free hosting services like blogspot or wordpress.com. you can't do much if you host your blog on them. better get your own hosting and host as many blogs you want. :D
