Blogspot blogs & AdSense

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by verus125, Apr 30, 2010.

I'm interested in a discussion concerning using AdSense on a blogspot blog. I'll start the thread with the following two questions:

    1. Which works better for you as far as AdSense placement - a vertical ad on the left or right column OR an ad that appears below or above each post? Or maybe another placement?

    2. If I have a relevant domain name, is there a strong SEO advantage to using that domain name rather than free1proxy.blogspot.com ?

    1. Ads below each post would be an added advantage. And the best is 336x280

    2. Relevant domain name is the best, of course, provided if you are willing to pay for the domain name and hosting (annually)

I pay for a domain name, it's very cheap and my adsense ads are below my post and right sidebar. My Blog is quite new so I'm not sure how my ads are doing.

if you like get a domain for being a good publisher otherwise making time waist on the bloggers is not worthy as there are chances of you get banned by blogspot or u get some scam complaints and they ll delete your blog even you can back up and main thing is ur not owner of the blogspot by your own. and for ads there not much diffrence its 100 : 5 diffrence if you put ads on that page that makes more hits on ads

My highest paying Adsense Ad, is top center of the page just below my header image, text-link unit.

That single Ad makes approx. 90% of +$100 a month.

All my Nav. links are in the sidebar, instead of a navbar top center.

The biggest mistake most blogs make is they pick a template that has a bunch of images.

A blogger needs to decide, do you want readers looking at images or clicking Ads?

Keep the template plain & simple with good content...

Better go for your own domain rather than any free ones, if you are serious about blogging / revenue from blogs.

I don't agree with that. I don't have my own domain yet, it's ****.blogspot.com (check my profile if you're interested in the site).
I earn enough from Adsense and Amazon and I've been on the scene for 6 months. If your content is good, people will visit you. Sure, having your own domain is awesome and I'll buy it soon but for now it's okay.

I have 3 Adsense ads on my blog.
    1. Top one - 728 x 90 - is black, like the background. Colors are similar to other titles
    2. There is a 160x600 banner on the right side, gray color that gets in your eye.
    3. It's a square - 300 x 250 - and I had to make my Dark Minima template a bit wider but this ad usually appears as an image so it attracts others.

    1. and 3. are the best.

Ads placed above the fold will works bettter. Above the fold is the section of your site which the visitors can see directly your ads.

Keywords on domain has an effect on serp ranking. This can help to rank your site better.

I use an ad on my sidebar and at the same time in the beginning and end of my post...but i guess the important thing here is that you constantly check and redesign the placement of your ads to the one that will bring you more clicks

They do allow it. They blocked it a few years ago but I think that last year, they made the option for Blogspot too. I have one and I got approved.

The best ad is the 320X250 before the post.. 70% of the money.

Top left, big rectangle. Once I tried to play around with ad placement, and took off the big rectange on top left, suffered no click for that few days.
