If you're serious about creating a blog then I highly suggest buying and hosting your own domain and NOT hosting it on some "free" blog hosting service like Blogspot.com or Wordpress.com. WordPress is by far the best blogging software out there. Once you have a domain and a hosting provider, install WordPress. Godaddy and lots of others already have basically 1 click installations for WordPress.org's software. You just tell them whether you want it installed in the root of your web or some other folder.
