Well, I can suggest a few different methods that have worked. The number one way to get traffic is good quality content and get it indexed by search engines. This has worked for me. I have just about 60 posts on my blog and I just got PR1. I started about a month ago with some serious blogging. The next step is to start building back links. I try to build 20 good quality back links daily. This may not be enough but It is good to start. Post and Post Post. Its that simple keep blogging at least once a day if not more. and ping after you update, I try to ping 2 times a week. You dont want to ping too much because you could be marked as a spammer.
20 backlinks a day? Holy criminy I thought 6 was good LOL why that's.... uh ... 600 backlinks a month?
join to social networking sites....there are a lot of people there and it may give you good source of traffic..
There are many ways to drive traffic to a blog. The most proven way is to bookmark your blog to bookmarking sites and it will automatically fetch you loads of traffic. Also if you would like to learn more just make some research and you will find ample ways of generating traffic.
You could also be an active participant on sites like technorati and blogcatalog.com and network with other bloggers. I also agree with the others above me who said plenty of quality, original content. Traffic wont happen overnight though.
