Blogs or websites?

The reasonable SEO performance and speed at which Wordpress blogs can be created and updated, provides a great platform for anyone running an information (content) site. With new projects coming up, im contemplating blogs as the way forward.

With blogs being so fast to design and update, would you really spend the time to design and program a site that is easy to add more content to when you can simply use blog software?

Yes exactly. There is little benefit to wasting time on developing a website when blogs with SEO mods are available.

Agree, if you just want to put only content and no CRM then blog is better and search engine loves blog contents too.

I love blogs and just because google really trusts them on of the spammy one is blogger, ow baybe with blogger you can get indexed and get a PR much faster then with the website. By the way one time I was listening interwiev with some internet marketer and how he said he did a testing and blogger google likes much more then wordpress and it has a reason dont you think?

I think google loves blogs not because it is a "blog" but because blogs are regularly updated.

Bottom line is still the content. Even if you put up a blog but will not put new pages, it's worthless.

when you get down to it the spiders still read html and follow links....a blog ranks high if it has good content, is updated regulary and is on topic and has links...that is the same formula for any other site.

    Blogs v Websites?

    I don't that that's a good question.

A better question is "Can you justify a website not using blogging technology?"

The only advantage a blog got is RSS. But you can have it on any page too.

I see your point. Perhaps a website for guides and tutorials, and a blog for those less improtant rants (articles) :D

i'ld prefer a site that has a blog as well, that way the content ritchness of the blog will attract the spiders, snd with decent internal linking the spiders shud follow on to the main site. and it keeps visitors coming back to your site

Here is my theory, and this is why I created my blog at http://digitalgeek.wordpress.com/

Instead of creating the blog on my own website, which I could very well have done and get it a very strong page rank. I can get and even stronger one by linking to my daily blog if it is on a powerful page rank domain. The domain should carry over better that way ( Faster Too ) Its just a theory but I have seen it work before!

    ;)

A blog gains it's distinct character from regular content updates, placed in date order. The human presence is more pronounced in a blog than that of a website.
