If you can get your forum strong enough it will eventually produce more money than a blog: For example: Forum-content grows by the people posting ... thus Ads grow exponentially. Blog-content only grows by you alone... thus ads may be better at first, but won't necessarily grow by itself. However, a lot of other factors come into play. But if you want to make some money do a blog. If you have the time to run a forum do a forum. Both are equally as hard... just one is easier at first, and the other is easier later on.
there never needed to be blogs, they are useless sacks of stupidity.... its just a synonym for articles.... It's just a "hype" word.
I think you need to put yourself into the shoes of those who are not webmasters like you. To them it's a chance to get their writings online without having to undergo the whole process of getting a site designed first. People love their blogs, they're popular for a reason. And not all of them are stupid, businesses use them to keep their visitors informed of the latest news, company info, tips, advice you name it. It's an additional way for people to connect.
Good point actually. You're right, but then again it also puts web developers out of business. Especially since blogs are popular some guy will be like... "why should i buy a website when i can go over to blogspot.com or whatever and get a blog for free". I know my dad did >_<. But blog does not sound high tech rofl. It reminds me of slobs, blobs, and hogs.... And on occasion, hobbits and bugs.
I really don't think anyone expected blogs to ever become as much of a webtool as they are now. Blogger was most likely created to have some sort of communication tool that can also be accessed by the average web searcher. I'm not sure that blogs will be in existence the way that we know them, let's say 10 years from now. Custom coded interfaces built for the owners of sites and employees of web businesses are most likely going to be dominant. I myself didn't blog until a year ago, didn't want to fall into the whole MySpace mentality Now I see that actually a blog in addition to a site can add something. Tell your dad that blogspot deletes blogs and to get hosting with A Small Orange and use Wordpress instead Added: I've just come accross this Blogging is to words what Napster was to Music
The reason blogs became popular is because they are more informal... example: people can curse, use slang, show their point of view without being afraid. It's more like a rant! But still is nice to read them though. Sometimes, though they can be very unrelated/unimportant subjects. People should keep a theme when posting blogs.
Which can be very damaging for companies that provide products or services that has a customer who just had a bad experience with them and decides to run a blog on it. Although bad for the company its good for the customer - which can be good for people out looking to buy something. Look-up dell-hell.blogspot.com which is a perfect example. I think there is a company out there that is suing one Blogger over an article he wrote about them - do not quote me on this but I will try to dig for the Article. So how far can a Blogger go before being hit with a lawsuit? Edit: Sorry if this seems off topic.
I like blogs much better, the prime reason being they are very search engine friendly. Blogs are also much easier to maintain, with forums there are much more headches like forum moderation etc.
I started with a tech blog too. I believe many Internet surfers are techies and my tech blog should appeal to a niche group among them. I also notice some tech ads have very high CTR and CPC. So, definitely a blog for me.
Yea Im Using Both The Truth I Know You Dont Get Any Clicks On Forum Cuz Here All Guy Know About Adsense Lolz
Might be true. From my experience sites for webmasters have poor CTR. Its like others don't want you to make money.
I know it's quite wierd. A few days ago I accidently clicked on a google ad on someone elses website. I went "NOOOO WHat Have i done??!!!" But then i thought of it, and i said, "hey, I helped someone make money".... So I was like, damn being a web designer has made me so evil :X. I think it's psychological. We read so many "banned from adsense" blogs/posts that we are scared to click our own ads, and then this psychology spreads from being scared to click our own ads, to being scared to click on others ads too. Attention webmasters: I want you to go out today and click on some ads ;O
