as being stated here http://www.smallbusinesses.blogspot.com/2005/06/top-ten-trends-in-internet-marketing.html Does anyone have more info/examples? Mike
Sure I can see it..The whole internet is moving into a multimedia type environment with better streaming technology and connections coming but I don't expect any free services to offer the space.
I find this whole top ten list quite laughable. Most of these things are already being done. We may see a few of them become more popular but it will be trendy....they'll probably come and go within a two year period. I don't think this will take off at all...too expensive to implement and maintain. It would probably only be popular with advertisers that are already paying massive amounts for PPC. Remember...part of the bonus of the Internet is that businesses can do business WITHOUT having to invest in a full service team to answer phones. Already happening....this might actually take off, but only if there's a better way to track impressions and ROI. Recede dramatically???? WTF??? No way....you think the spammers will just give up and go home? LOL Has this person bothered to look at everything Google is doing? So maybe there will be a few software style copycats. Meh. Also...this is what many bloggers are already doing. Hi, Lifehacker and Slashdot! Only worthwhile to megacorps that can afford tv advertising and other media giveaways. It's already deing utlized for entertainment based campaigns. Cartoon Network has been doing this for years. Definitely won't be widespread. Uh...hello? Can anyone say web cam? It's what really gave the whole blog movement a boost...hot girlies keeping journals and prancing around on their cams. So let's give it a new corporate friendly name so businesses can do it (and pretend they did it first). I don't have time to finish the list...i'm laughing too hard.
LOL - There are two industries that drive technology for everything else. Video Games and Pornography. Video Games push the technology barrier by requiring innovative use of existing widespread tech so that the latest and greatest game is always sporting new features - especially in the graphics engines. Pornography is the one industry where users are willing to foot the bandwidth bills to see whatever it is they want to see. And both industries have so much competition that there's always somebody new coming up with something innovative. Blogging and the web in general are ripe for a technology burst in the next 5 or so years when our existing bandwidth limitations grow. At a health care company I do work for, we've done some work on transmitting MRI images in real time over a network (like 600 mb files) so that they can be shared between hospitals and doctors. There are currently a lot of issues still obviously, but I've seen it working. The future isn't really that far off when you think of it. One thing that is certain is that the few companies with ownership of large media archives are going to get a huge burst in traffic if they can take get everything online in the early stages. Back when the concept of multimedia became popular to begin with there were so few companies out there with any content.
Interesting that you found the list laughable.... I can't say I agree totally with the entire list, and a few things are old hat to me, but I thought it was quite inisightful on a number of points. More importantly, I was contacted by two companies doing RSS marketing, one company with agent software, and a couple of independent publishers/authors. All of these companies or professionals take this list very seriously.
