Blogs for backlinks: But no web link?

    Hi All

I have noticed a few blogs have the option to comment, and add your website address. However, on the actual posting the website URL is nowhere to be seen..

Why is this, and does a website URL need to be seen for an effective backlink? or does Googlebot see the website somehow behind the scenes???

    Thanks
    Rob

Correct. The link will get detected. But don't just post a link everywhere. Find blogs targeted to your NICHE and make sure they are credible enough - i.e. highly ranked.

thats great stuff....thank you...I was always interested in how to use blogs, and always thought you had to link back via a hyperlink on the body of the text...which would look very spammy

So if no one see's the hyperlink to the website, what is its purpose?

It seems that all commenter's are no-follow link. Is it helpful for building my own SERP.

Yes, it is calculated as a backlink. So always post a useful comment with your link but don't spam the blog...
