The main differences between Blogs and Forums are:

    - Forums are created for discussion bewteen several people while Blogs are mainly designed for a single user input, with possibility for other people to comment.

So, Blogs are more like a simple homepage where other people may contribute with comments, but one person rules, blog owner, and blog owner can delete any comment he/she doesn't like. While, in forums, ther could be thousands of people posting topic messages and also adding comments ...

When people try to use forums for the purpose of writing a journal, their messages get lost in the stream of messages, making it hard to follow the story.

Also, people tend to post many short messages inside forums, while blogs are more used for posting longer messages (on average).

Blog owner can choose weather or not to make comments visible to the public.

Forums are like social mixers, where everyone is at equal level, milling about and discussing with others. These many to many communication tools allow anyone to start a topic and anyone to respond to one. Members are often at equal level, and content is usually segmented by topic. (rather than by people).

Blogs are like a keynote speech where the speaker (blogger) is in control of the discussion, but allows questions and comments from the audience.
Blogs are journals often authored by one individual, and sometimes teams. In the context of business communication, these are often used to talk with the marketplace and to join the conversation that existing external bloggers may be having.

The one difference I know is that blogs are easier to promote than a forum. A forum is the hardest kind of website to promote.

A blog (short for "web log") is essentially an online journal or diary where one can post messages, photos, music and video on their own mini website. They have become very popular in recent years and are excellent for personal and up-to-date opinion and information.

A forum is an online message board where information can be shared and discussions can be carried out and read. Designed to be open to all, they are an excellent way to build an online community and by introducing membership levels and moderators, they can be monitored and controlled to a degree.

I can't agree more with that statement. It has been one hell of a chore trying to promote my forum.

At blog you can write whatever you want to talk and maybe others could comment, but forum, you can write your advice about something and some people talk over one thing.
