Do blogrolls and sitewide links have a great impact on your serp? I know that G for instance has special algorithm to locate paid links (like sponsored links) - arent blogrols considered like this? Thank you
As for how well you rank in google results pages - my opinion, incoming and outgoing links should have a certain "ratio." Where incoming links are greater then outgoing links. If you have more outgoing links then incoming, I think that can have a negative impact on your site. So if your using sitewide links, and you make a bunch of post, you could easily end up with more outgoing links then incoming. Once you start counting tag pages, categories,,,,, one post could show up in several places in your blog. That gives the sitewide link more exposure. The "blogroll" is just a bunch of links, its a lot different then paid links. For example, I use my blogroll to link to my forum sections. I have wordpress installed in the html root and a forum in a /forum folder. My "blogroll" was renamed into "Forum Sections" and every link is a link to one of my forum categories. In this case I am linking to my internal pages instead of having outgoing links. Personally, I disagree with sitewide links. Meaning a link to another site is shown on everyone of my pages. But, blogspot is setup this way. So if its ok for blogspot to do it, it should be ok for other websites to do it. My google webmster tools shows that my forum gets lots of links from bloggers at blogspot having a link to my site in their blogroll. This provides my site with a link on every post they make. So if your thinking of having sitewide links, they should be directly related to your sites content, and a very important site. If your using sitewide links, do not just link to "anyone" just for the fun of it.
maybe i have to redesign some of sites.. the outgoing and incoming thing.. thanks, i'll look on this and apply it to my site..
another important benefit to what you are doing is that you are exposing your site to other webmasters of the same niche that may want to link with you, so i think that this does ultimately increase your search engine ranking.
