Bloging service (other than blogger) recommendations?

Discussion in 'WordPress' started by mopacfan, Aug 20, 2004.

It seems blogger works fine if your using a sub.blogger.com domain but if you're ftp'ing, it doesn't seem to work. So I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for blogging services other than blogger?

    Thanks

    Yep:

    001 java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out on file:2004_08_01_

I can see the ftp connection on my server, I've verified that I can connect via ftp from my pc and upload files, delete them and I have full control. For some reason, blogger just won't do it's job.

Hmmm, not really sure to be honest. What type of FTP server are you using? I've tried it with both FTP and SFTP without any problems.

As far as a recommendation goes... I've heard movable type is pretty good. I used it a while back and it was fairly good. Although that was like 2-3 years ago, so I bet a lot has changed.

Blogger has always worked fine for me too. www.nerddotcom.com

If you're looking for less hassle use BlogEasy. It offers the usual features, without the hassle of ftp, downloading programs, etc. It's also free.

    www.squarespace.com

It will give you every option under the sun. If you want to use your own domain you can.

This was founded by a 20 year old university student and the guy will be doing 10 million a month in sales very soon.

I did finally get it working. It was a problem with the ftp. So that's what I'm using for now.

    I like BlogSpot.

A lot of my friends use Diaryland. There are many options out there. Some people even use modified Invision Boards!
