hey everyone! I was just experimenting with blogs, page rank and link popularity and from posting some insignificant trivial little blogs I checked my link popularity and it is UNBELIEVABLE!! Plus i see them even listed on google only after a FEW DAYS!! So there must be a great trick to getting our websites into the engines quickly this way too and with SUPER HIGH link popularity? Any ideas how to format a blog with the website content so this happens? Ive been analyzing it and trying to come up with a method but sure some of you know...huh?...maybe???
For formatting a blog just make sure your entries are all linked together well and you have a sitemap with all your entries' permalinks included. Try to interlink entries within their content. If you're not using permalinks, start.
what are permalinks?? I see those in the html of blogs but never knew what they were. www.artwendy.com , the best of weird art
Permalinks are URLs where your post will permanently located. So let's say you're blogging and your blog shows the last 30 days worth of posts and the rest get archived. If the rest are archived by month, you get one page built for each month your blog ahs been around, plus one for the homepage. If you use permalinks, you'll have one page for each entry, making your site grow much faster. In addition, it'll let other link to a specific post without having to worry that that post will disappear at some point.
jonah, do you have a blog so i can get an idea and see how you are doing it with the permalink thing? also which blogs do you think are the best. everyone around here is talking about word press which i went to but there are two wordpresses... .org and .com. one looked like a site to download the software and the other didnt look like the right one so...... im looking for more community blogs where you get traffic fron the blogsite right to your blog..ive had good luck with that in tblog.com and in blogster.com. NONE AT ALL in blogger or seo-blog
Here's a blog I run with permalinks: www.burritoblog.com - the permalinks are indicated at the bottom of each entry. This blog runs on MovableType which I'm a huge fan of, but will not get any traffic from a blog network. If you're comfortable doing a little HTML to make your templates, MovableType is the way to go.
I much prefer WordPress. It's got musch more available in the way of free templates and plugins and the support is excellent (Support with MT is excellent also).
Nice Blog Jonah, but I don't see the permalinks, nor any archives. Are the resturarants the permalinks? Or Recent meals. Do you have any suggestions for further reading on this issue?
Thanks. The permalinks are at the bottom of each entry: Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Permalink for Business Lunch, Chair Free. Each link under Recent Meals is a permalink also. For archiving, the blog's only been around a month so far so I'm not using monthly archiving just yet. Each restaurant is a category, and I use category archiving. So let's say I eat at the same place, Felipe's for example. Every entry that is filed under Felipe's goes into the Felipe's archive. You can assign one entry to multiple categories (think movies: action, adventure) but for my purposes, that's not necessary. For further reading - I'm afraid I'm not much help. I learned just by watching others and trial and error.
Yes WordPress ROCKS. My blog is #1 everywhere cuz the code it so clean. Permalinks are helpful for LOTS of things. Think of them sort of like the link to this specific thread of this forum. So if someone is writing about or wants to lett someone else about a SPECIFIC topic in a blog, instead of sending them to the blog main page to try to find it you send them a link to a specific thread. So for instance if I said check out my Pray for Good Yahoo Rankings Cartoon and sent you my main link: http://affiliate-blogs.5staraffiliateprograms.com/ you would have to search to find it. The permalink will take you right to that particular blog entry: http://affiliate-blogs.5staraffiliateprograms.com/2005/04/15/friday-funnies-yahoo/ Its used a lot also for when one person is blogging about something another blogger wrote. If I link to that blogs home page, the topic I am discussing may be buried under several other entires a day later. So a permalink takes them right to the spot even if new posts have been made. Plus for spiders your blog home page is indexed, all your category pages, all your monthly archives and then all those individual permalinks too so the spiders have lots of different ways to get to and index your content. IF you wrote a popular article that lost of other bloggers linked to via permalink that page could also get good PR. Blogs RULE! Hope this helps and best of luck!
Blogging and serps? read google bombing http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=miserable+failure&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 easy to do. Build LOTS of blogs and link to your site in the templates. Get loads of content from free article sites and hey prosto. Lots of links, Lots of pages, lots of ranks etc.. Dont believe it works on very competitive terms though and I am sure you cant sustain your business on this model
