Thanks guys for all your comments, and special thanks to Pandemix, GuardianAngell and Ginyu, thanks for the links and 'Goal setting' i never really looked at it that way, such as 3 posts per week, 15 back links a day, etc. Like Kaizen, small improvements lead to a big one. I'll read through the links you provided and get back to you.
ye,if you want to suceed in your blog, you need to be special, the content needs to be informative, useful. you need to take yourself as a reader, if you are eager to read your blog, then the readers will be fond of your blog.
I keep my interest up by doing several blogs on different subjects and keeping up to date on the subjects I specialise in. Your blog won't suffer too much if there's the occasional lack of regular posts, so take three or four days away from one of them every so often. (Not too long though, obviously!)
Think of something that you are really passionate about then write about it. Have your friends follow your blog and leave comments for you to answer. Money does not motivate everybody.
Keep an eye on your search engine rankings. Keep telling yourself that the next blog post is going to improve your position. That's a pretty fun game, and can be rewarding.
