I don't have a blog actualy i use a wp but for a site (but i wouldn't call that being a blog) Blog should mean constant updates ....
Blog platforms like WordPress are largely used for a "normal" sites nowadays. When I think of a blog, a personal site comes into my mind, not just any WordPress site.

I got confused... just a bunch of fragments. What was the point of the thread? Do you have to blog every day? No, it highly depends on the type of blog. Sure, WordPress and other content management systems are being used for static websites; makes sense to me.
