I had been reading all about internet marketing through some websites. I had read here, that instead of just buying or getting content to put up on your site (aka "Fluff") But some here suggested against that, and thebest way to go is your OWN original content. Which is a good thing, because I like writing my own stuff (I'm into Sci-FI and Comic books, etc etc) FUn stuff Going to conventions, taking pictures at theconventions , hot babes in super hero outfits...and posting them on the blog I have signed up with some Affiliates for companies that SELL sci-fi stuff as well....so got a little niche going there. But I was wondering if there's any money in that kind of thing....not that I'min a big rush to make big money....but I just want to "plant a seed" then possibley slowly grow Is your niche isn't all that popular...BUT it's original content...does that even things out? thanks L(
It sounds like you are on the right track. You might want to look into blog advertising and setting up a newsletter through your blog that people can subscribe to. There is a great book called "Money for Nothing and Your Clicks for Free" (or something like that) that you should check out. I forget who its by, but it has some great ideas for ways to use a website to generate income.
Not necessarily... If your niche isn't "catchy" how are people going to know you have any content, let alone original content? Common sense... You need a popular niche that people will catch on to, then your original content will boost things further, but the Niche is key.
I just want to clarify that just because it isn't popular niche doesn't mean that there isn't money in it. Granted, the big niche's are the ones where you will make the most money, but you can still make a good income on targetted websites. One of my blogs is very specific. I did it because I was interested in it. I probably won't ever see a huge amount of traffic there. But traffic is already decent to it. I'm pretty happy with that.
There's an old saying, "Do what you love, and the money will follow" I don't want to bore myself to tears doing blogs on Mesothelioma lol..Heck, I see enough Lawyer commercials about that too.
"Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life" - had to throw that in. There's nothing worse than starting a blog and writing content when you could care less about what your writing about. I think your on the right track. Reputation is key.
The challenge I find with blogging about something I enjoy is that I know very little about it. So that leaves me very little to write about. The idea would be that you would get to learn more about what you enjoy and write about it as you learn it. I am a slow learner and by the time I learn something it seems so simple that I feel embarrassed to write about it because I worry people will think it is silly or they already knew it for a much longer than me. In essence, there may always be someone out there that will find it useful and the important thing in all this is that you keep learning.
Yeah, I had someone try to get me to start using PLR to add "fluff" to stuff on my blog...that I didn't know much about nor had an interest in. Gets cumbersome...and if it THAT niche doesn't work out, you realized you j ust wasted time. lol
