Here's my idea: A forum with like this where you can post thread, but you can only start one thread per user. The thread is the blog. It will get others attention to post in it, make it grow and get some page rank. Threadblogging
I...umm.......well I'll say this. Blogs are better because Each person gets a blog You can skin it You can put ads in it You can have more than 1 post / thread You can use RSS, XML feeds. You can have more than one author.
anything to do with blogs is a bad idea. when the hell are blogs going to go away? blogs are like the internets version of NSYNC or the backdoor boys
I don't think people would be interested to blog in a forum. They would have no control over it, they can't customize it, so I'd think people will rather open blogs of their own if they really want to blog.
Because if the "forum" attracts any interest at all, you'll soon have pages and pages of one or two post threads which no one will want to wade through to try to find anything. Blogs have a specific format that puts the focus on an individual article/post to which others can post brief comments. If that's what you're looking for, then use a blog. Forums are designed to encourage discussion and debate among several different individuals in a format which is easy to follow and index. Having everyone post in a new thread makes that format almost unusable.
SVZ, here's our answers Each person can start a thread. Each user can chose wich skin they like best and then use it in the whole forum. You can even have adsense ads on DP to. There's no limitations here. A thread is a blog. If I was going to allow people to have a several than many blogs would just drown after a few days. Not getting hits from the forum. It is also possible in my idea. You can have more than one author.[/QUOTE] It is also possible in my idea, but why?
The point with this is that the blog can grow by posts from other users so that they get more keywords and pagerank..
1. you don't get PageRank by adding posts 2. blogging software already does that and more efficiently
Look at the threds here in DP that have more than 2000 posts(100 ages).. those threads have PR3 Yes, but not so effective.. you don't get 50 comments in an hour
Why did you ask for opinions? You seem bound and determined that this is a good idea... just do it. Do you really think you can start a blog/forum that is going to get 50 posts an hour and 100 page threads? That seems most unlikely to me...
I asked because I wanted to see how welcome this idea was. I don't think I will succeed though.. the start is impossible
Yes.. but getting visitors to the site in the beginning is very hard.. I work on this already but wih another project.
