    Hi,

i just realised something when i was trying to explore url for my blog in the following formats:
    http://www.sti-stocksinfo.blogspot.com
    http://sti-stocksinfo.blogspot.com/

They gave different results for different formats. The first format was the one that i sent to yahoo site explorer. I notice a very small traffic from yahoo SE. So that brings to my attention that the format for submitting to site explorer matters? With www and without www.

Can anyone explain the rational?

So now i need to submit and authenticate my blog with 2 links like below

This is good to know, I think yahoo views www.site.com and site.com as different urls.

sorry guys. take note you should submit only 1 format to yahoo sitemap. choose either the www or non-www version. that was told to me by a yahoo site explorer worker.

instead you should do 301 redirect if you choose 1 format.

now im trying to learn how to redirect for blogspot user. anyone knows if we are allowed to modify htaccess file for blogspot user?

i read it could be different if you do not do a 301 redirect. google will consider multiple websites as spam.

Thats Correct. The non www and www versions are considered to be two separate entities as per the bots.

I always 301 redirect the non www using the htaccess file.

I echo "just life's" comment. With a Windows server, you can use a VBscript 301 redirect.

In fact even for websites, search engines seem to treat them as two different URL's. So when getting backlinks either one or the other. Of course prefable the one with the www is always better.

So just stick with that, do not use the other when getting backlinks.

i heard some people said without www is better? :(

even the yahoo support mentioned to remove the one with www and leave without www when submitting to yahoo sitemap.
