With the change in Adsense rules on revealing how much you earn I decided to put together a little poll asking bloggers how much they are earning with the program. The results to the Adsenese Earnings Poll revealed that the answer in most cases is 'not much'. 33% are earning less than $1 a day with a further 16% earning less than $3 per day. Of course a few are earning what most would consider good money - 10% of respondents earning over $1500 per month. Full results with pretty graphs are here if you're interested.
Those figures on their own are pretty meaningless. How many respondants? What type of blog - moveable type, blogger, etc? Place of hosting - own website, blogspot, journalspace ...? How honest are the replies? I see from your site that someone manipulated the results .. shame. Quite an interesting topic nonetheless.
That is what I was wundering, there is no wa of telling if people were lying, saying they earned $10,000 from their site. I think the first few sets of results were mostly true but I am not convinced about the last few sets eg. 3% earned between $5000 and $9999 1% earned over $10,000 Still interesting though how much people earn from a blog, shows that it takes along time to get there but it can be worth it. you're right - there is no way of telling if people are lying - but thats the case in any survey thats ever been done. The number of people who responded was around 450. I didn't design the poll as a scientific one - but rather as a rough guide. In terms of the top end SHT - I believe that the results are accurate - I know of a number of bloggers who earn in excess of $10,000 per month from Adsense - they are in the minority (as the poll showed) but they are around and I suspect that there will be more and more around in the months and years ahead.
Hmm, a decent number of responses for sure. I don't think anyone is under any illusions about it being a rough guide. It is very interesting. I think I'll have to work harder on my blog(s)
