Hi I just want your opinion on something. Is it more worthwhile for affiliate marketing to have a blogger blog which get's good search rankings very quickly, or to have a wordpress blog but hosted on your own domain alongside your own website. What has been successful for you?
May I suggest to you what the problem is here, and why nobody has replied/voted yet? It's because while purporting to ask for information, you've actually made statements of your own, with which many people aren't necessarily going to agree. You've described Blogger Blogs as "well ranked very quickly" (that was never my experience) and Wordpress blog + Website as "better coverage about your topic" (that depends on many things). Many people may feel that their own perceptions/experiences are significantly different from the rather assumptive way you've chosen to characterise them. And that makes it pretty difficult for people to choose one of your options, doesn't it?
I chose blogger but there is many reasons I done this. If you are asking about using either for a landing page I would always opt for your own domain. If you are talking about using them for links or for SEO purposes I would choose your own domain. I chose blogger because it can get listed fast and it helps with both of the above.
I think Wordpress as it may be slower at first to get ranked but you will OWN all the content so have far more options in the long run, not to mention more control. Blogger is cool to test out a niche though. @ alexa_s Can't keep up with the profile pics!
By the way, all of that will also be true of Blogger, if you host it yourself. (I think you're confusing "Blogger" with "Blogspot", aren't you, Chris? Blogspot is kind of the equivalent to wordpress.com, at least in the sense that the hosting's free but you don't own it, anyway. Self-hosted Blogger is very much the equivalent to self-hosted Wordpress. ). Apologies. Have been looking for a pic I can "live with", that looks decent without looking unprofessional. Someone told me that black-and-white reduces to a tiny size much better/clearer for an avatar, so I'm trying it out. This one also makes me look a bit older, which doesn't do any harm.
PS I didn't vote because I use Typepad, myself. I strongly prefer it to both Blogger and Wordpress for all sorts of reasons entirely outside the scope of this thread.
Yes, you are right, sorry forgot about this on Blogger you can host it yourself and then it is very much like Wordpress. However I think Wordpress still edges it for all the add ons, plug ins, and things that you can do to it i.e static sales pages, forums etc... I wasn't complaining about the pic Looks good!
