With the kind of uplift blogger themes got recently, it's not a bad platform either...even for self hosting. However, some flexibility will be missed especially as WP self hosted offering possibility of plugins and even adding some custom PHP code to either theme or even the platform!
With my first travel blog, I used blogger but it was very difficult to navigate and there is not a lot of things I can do to customize my site. I just recently transferred my blog to wordpress I could finish my blog within a sweat. Easy to navigate and very flexible. There are a lot of tools you can use
from what I know, blogger is more user friendly ... so much easier for beginners .... wordpress a little bit complicated, but can be added a variety of good plugins for SEO like All In SEO pack
I've been using WordPress for more then 2 years. You can go on and try it now, you'll be purely satisfied: Here are the reasons why one should prefer using WordPress: http://nichebloggers.org/7-reasons-why-wordpress-is-better-than-google-blogspot/
WordPress is easy to install (from CPanel with Fantastico hosts), is easy to to use, allows installing plugins easily directly from their repository. Also interface looks professional and very responsive.
Both the platform has their own plus points.Wordpress : Easy for Beginer, Variety of Thems, Plugins, Better control over postingBlogger: Google Brand Support, Adsense Support, Affiliate Support, Personal ads displayIts basically users choice what and how they want to deliver on blog.Thanks.
If you do not have a lot of time, and want to adopt a low maintenance solution go for Blogger, in the long run when you understand the fine points of blogging move to Wordpress. I found the Blogger experience very useful to learn SEO, pagerank, adsense and analytics. Wordpress certainly takes much more effort during installation and customizing the look and feel
at the first time I use blogger because it's more easier, after that I learn wordpress and love it until now, because it's more customizeable and easy to add any plugin
I think first you should know that you want a separate domain or a sub-domian, if you want a separate domian, you should choose the WP-, if you want a really amazing sub domian from them, maybe you could choose the blog of the google--Blogger.com which seems better for you in this area
With WordPress, you can own the domain name and the blog is hosted on your own account. This means you have full control over your content and don’t have to worry about google shutting down your account without warning if they (or other users) don’t like what you’re blogging about. With the self-hosted version of WordPress (not WordPress.com), you’re free to write about anything you want, and use the software in any way you want. There is also an option to export your site easily meaning that you have access to your data.Yes blogger allows you to publish to your own domain but google still owns the database that holds your content. Something you might want to mull over.
i also recommend you wordpress if you are new because wordpress is easy to use easy to manage. but if you have experience to blogging then i recommend you blogger its little bit difficult to mange but its google own product so google promote your blog too your blog will index very quickly and if your contents are good then you can get huge traffic from google also its my own experience.
