You got to upload the files into your domain folder. And you got to create a database for this.

I love Wordpress. I wouldn't recommend blogger though, I hear some people get their blogs terminated for no reason. :/

I like them both, but for a professional blog you're really better off going with self-hosted Wordpress.
Just be sure to keep it updated to the latest version and check out the wordpress codex on ways of keeping it secure.

Why would one have to insist on the latest version? And what would you like to keep secure?

Having the latest version helps patch up any bugs and security holes.

Wordpress is great but it's not perfect and it does get hacked. A quick Google search will turn up all manner of horror stories.

You'll want to protect your wp-config.php file for one. Would also recommend using the Secure Wordpress plugin, which automatically blocks security holes, such as removing the Wordpress version number. Login Lockdown is another great plugin for preventing brute force attacks, also be sure to change from the default "admin" username to something less obvious. I also recommend using the DBC Backup plugin to keep regular backups. I could go on but don't want to veer off the topic too much.

Agreed, wordpress security problems should be discussed in detail on another thread.

I for one like to work with wordpress as it has some good SEF-url features.

I'm a Wordpress fan myself, but when I started I had all Blogger blogs. Both have their pros and cons.

Blogger boasts to be very user friendly and is often utilized for personal purposes while Wordpress (though can also be set up easily) is preferred mostly by those people who do virtual earnings or who want a more complex way in presenting their blogs. And yes, WP is more strict.

I'm getting my feet wet with WP. Does anybody know of any good free guides out there? I had to delete my (self hosted) blog and start all over again once already.

Blogger is reliable. You can forget your blogspot blog till forever. It will be always online. This is the real 100% uptime guarantee given by the biggest internet company.
What about Wordpress? It is customizable if you pay for hosting and domain and if you know what you are doing.
Is there any other advantage of Wordpress? No. But it will always have a great chance to go offline anytime even worse if you forget to do something or click somewhere accidentally. You might be online more than your wordpress blog if you are a beginner.

I have a question regrading SEO. Blogger better or Wordpress. I know it is easy to customize Wordpress and get your SEO up. I have done that.
But i need to host a site quickly atm and get it on search results real quick.
am short on cash so cant put on another wordpress.

So will i be able to do good with Blogger ? I know html/css so i dont mind getting messy with blogger's html.
