I'm still thinking which blog should i used any maybe someone here with expierence to blogging can give me a hand. I need a blog that can allow me to use my own domain. IE (www.domainname.com). I don't it to show any ads and has to be able to let me put ads on it if i choose to in the future. I first looked at typepad and was going to go for it 4.95 per month but then realized you can't have your own domain name unless you go pro or plus but thats too expensive for me. So right now i'm leaning more towords blogger, since i don't know much about wordpress. Any advice?
Wordpress is the best script... Most of the top bloggers use it and widely popular. Its easy to use too - dont worry.
Take a domain for you that will not cost more than $7 a year and take our large hosting plan of 1000MB for about $10 a year and install wordpress in it and start the blog as you want to... with no ads... If you want any wordpress help we can provide you... its very easy need only 2-min to understand... More options available.... feedback is appreciated... hope this helps
Wordpress doesn't allow ads i just looked at it. And does anyone know if domain mapping is bad??? Like whats the different from domain mapping then actually having a domain.
I didn't got your this sentence... ??? just see my blog its made in wordpress and its having my ads...: www.infogle.com/blog
Sorry i was refering to if you do with through wordpress. By the way 10 dollars whats the catch??? is it a start up buisness?
No catch... nothing its pure hosting with wordpress installed in it... (as you desire) As DP user i am quoting you less as the same package would cost $14 if you directly take from website just check: www.infogle.com/host Only business and no tricks is what we believe..in
Ok thanks for the info, i'm going to make my decision with going with www.infogle.com/host or opening another slot with my siteground.com by the end of this day.
Well any of these option are going to require that first you signup and get your own webhost. I suggest something like dreamhost that's cheap if you are just starting out. I would definitely use WordPress. I use it on all my sites and recommend it for all my clients. It's easy to use, the most customizable and you can extend it to do pretty much anything you think of. Blogger is nice, but it's limited. Plus you have to display blogger's nav bar (even if you have your own domain). You can definitely do a lot with Wordpress though. Download the application, upload it to your server install a nice free (or design your own!) theme, and you're ready to go. Lindsey
I have blogs on both Blogger and Wordpress and I definitely like Wordpress better. The key advantages of Wordpress for me are ease of customizing, availability of templates, and the drip feature. I write in spurts. With Wordpress, I can write several posts in one day, change the timestamp, and readers will be none the wiser. The posts display at the time of the timestamp. With Blogger they show as soon as you publish no matter what the timestamp says. I have a hard time finding themes for my Blogger blog. When I do find them, they're difficult to customize, and Blogger's code is difficult to decipher. Most of the components for Wordpress themes are included in different files - the sidebar vs single post vs main page - so it's easier to figure out what the code means and change what you want. Good luck with your choice.
I agree that it is best to host your own domain but if you choose not to, Blogger is great to work with and easy to set up with your own domain name. I found the problem with hosting my own was that most cheap hosting services are cheap for a reason. My blogs are my hobbies so I do not wish to spend a lot on hosting and after trying three hosting packages that were cheap, I have decided it is better to keep my blogs at blogger.
I would say just do all your research before choosing a host to ensure that you will be happiest. I wouldn't just choose someone because they are cheap. Like I said before DreamHost seems to be an ok cheap host, I don't use them personally, but a lot of blogger do and they seem to be cheap and reliable. (http://dreamhost.com)
I have not used them and can not say for sure but I have used three other hosting packages that were by the year and cheap and I had all kinds of problems with my sites being down to losing updates to losing a whole site. I have never had problems with blogger and I do not pay them. If you are really wanting your own host, I would recommend paying for a good name provider that has been around and reliable. It cost more but as I said, you get what you pay for.
labnol.blogspot.com Do you know above blog, he just use free host at blogger and his blog is ranked 7000 alexa , really amazing Also, do you know where and how to get a similar template ?
Dude, get Wordpress. You can put ads since you have the power to edit your template. Besides, Wordpress has a large community of developers.
i like blogger Easy edit, easy manager, edit template easy..and more You see: cool-template.blogspot.com/ It a simple blog template but so cool
I know you only mentioned Blogger, TypePad and Wordpress, but I think you should also take a look at Serendipity.
