On IE6 I attempt to login and I get a nearblank page with a link reading click here to continue. I click on it and nothing happens. It must be my settings or something.

On Firefox it transitions smoothly but I don't see any difference with my blog. It looks the same. So I created a new account and I can see all the lables and the new editing features etc.

So basically I want to know if there is a step I am missing to migrate because I assumed you simply had to login to the beta and your old blog would be thre with the new features.

If you can sign in using firefox, then you are in Beta Blogger indeed. As you said you cannot see any changes, the problem must be that you haven't yet upgraded your template to the beta version and still using the classic publish. To upgrade your template to the beta version, go to your template setting and you will be prompt with an option to upgrade your template. Click upgrade and then you will see all the new features that beta carries.

    GoodLuck.

No luck it seems, signing in shows no tab as you described and if I sign in with my google email it creates an entirely new account

Don't be angry:) But I am really confused with your problem. I have 4 blogger accounts and a total of 14 blogs. I have upgraded all the four accounts and all are working fine. Is the beta feature working when a new account is created with your google account? (as you said a new account was created when you sign up with your google account.)
