Blogger or Own Site?

Does it make a difference whether I use Adsense ads on a free Blogger blog or my own website? Is one better than the other for generating Adsense income?

    Why not do both?

Have your own Word Press blog on your host and have a Blogger blog sending traffic to your WP blog. And of course, have Adsense on both.

Thanks for the advice. It looks like having both is my best option.

I think that Blogger is even better than a website these days. When I ran my own websites, I had alot of trouble with indexing and since I have been on Blogger, every such post has been indexed within 15 or so minutes. A reason for this will be the automatic ping with Weblogs, but you have to remember that Google run the Blogger network and will be supportive to their own brand.

Ignore those that try an lash out the "sub-domain" wont work in the long run milarky... as far as I see it, being part of the Blogger domain is just the same as a Joe Bloggs Trader deciding to move from a website, fully onto Ebay... and using just Ebay and Paypal to run his whole online trading. Likewise, a blogger can just use Blogger and Google (which is integrated anyway) and run all of their operations on these sites alone. If you do this, then you can expect unlimited hosting space, very reliable server, easily manageable blogs all in one etc.

If your looking for organic traffic, then Google will be interested in the quality of your content, the backlinks and the PR; this is how they will rank you. The ranking has nothing to do with whether you are on your own domain, or have hosting elsewhere so don't worry about that. I have no idea what the score is with affiliate programs and their requirements, but with Adsense... it's all about the content. If you want to make alot of money with Google alone, then I would imagine you would have to be sucking in 1000s and 1000s of daily uniques, at the same time pushing out a great CTR and that would be over a few niche blogs; Unless your the dominant force in a high paying niche ofcourse (i.e credit cards, insurance etc)!

    Anyway, best of luck.:D:cool:

Everything depends on content quality . Their are so many blogs on domain name but 40% are dead or just stable but their are some blogs on blogspot making huge earnings . Domain helps little bit in seo according to webmasters but if you have good content than anyone work .

your own blog wil lgive you lot of freedom but what option is better depends on your site topic, content, and ofcourse trarffic. if you plan of making a quality site and keep growing it along with brand establishment, then your own domain is better., if it is just a few articles blog then blogger is just fine

That's a good point. There are soo many "splogs" on the domain, that it is even hard to find domains which havn't yet been taken. When you look at them as well, they have one post that hasn't been touched in over 3 years. Blogger need to really get rid of this waste (as well as all the p*rn sites) in the near future, cos it's a huge waste on their server and serves no benefit to them. As mentioned though, if you post as much as you can and find a nice niche, then you should be able to do just fine.:)

My advice...start with blogger. It's free so it's a good place for noobies to start without risking spending too much money or time. Once you start making an amount you feel is enough with blogger, then venture into hosting your own domain/blog.

I just got my blog up w/adsense and I'm glad I'm doing it this way. It takes time before you will see considerable traffic and results in $$, so best start with something that is free.
