Blogger: Followers vs Feedburner Subscribers?

Discussion in 'Blogging' started by TechyRadhika, Aug 19, 2010.

I've started a contest and all of the readers have Followed my blog rather than subscribed.
Following allows me to easily contact my reader, but Subscribing is the usual?

    Should I keep Followers?
Should I keep Subscribers? (I have both Email and a Reader)

    Anything would be appreciated.

Yeah, I think Feedburner subscriptions are what you want. I think it's very easy to follow tons of blogger blogs and then never check them again, but a Feedburner subscriber will see all your posts and will likely return much more.

Are you talking about something specific with this contest, though?

Specific? No. I merely have three options for subscribing to my blog.
    1. Follow
    2. Feedburner
    3. Feeburner - Email

I said to do any one you want, and I got half/half response. I got 65 or so followers within 48 hours of this contest, and it was half and half in the end.

I guess the important thing is that your users have the option. You want to make sure they are able to follow your blog in the manner they are most comfortable with. In my opinion, though, a feedburner subscriber is usually a much more engaged reader of your blog for the most part.
