Blogger Embedded Into a Website Bad for SEO?

I am a web developer who is trying to learn more about SEO. I have a client who wants to embed Blogger into their website in an iframe. It is my understanding that the search engines will not read the blog within that iframe and even if it did, it would not attribute it to my client's website. Am I correct in this assumption?

    Hi.
Yes that's true because embedded links are not do follow they are no follow and Google read only do follow.

Yes, you are absolutely right... Search cannot read anything in iframes.

Anything which is placed in iframes is considered as third party content and the website (which is hosting the iframe) won't get any credit for that.

Ok, thanks. I figured that was the case and planned to install Wordpress instead. Just wanted to confirm that I was right in telling the client that the value would be lost if the iframe was used.

    Hello JoshWebGuy...

Au contrary, my fine fellows... While all that has been said to date is true or ought to be true, I have proof that an embedded blog might ADD to the site's strength.

First, if it's a GOOD blog, then it can only help, no matter whatever other benefits it provides.

But secondly, I have had an embedded Blogger blog on one of my sites for quite awhile now. Not having thought much about it, because of this post I just went for a little look-see.

The site is PR3. The Blogger blog is PR2....and BEST of all the page the blog is embedded on is PR2! So, however it's happening, Google likes to see the blog on the page. The blog itself may not be doing anything for the site, but the PR2 of the page itself is.

Were it me, I'd make a nice spiffy well SEO'd page...Doesn't have to be much text....but make what you do count....then I'd embed the blog. If your example follows mine, in time you'll have a ranked page.

Very interesting. I wonder what it is attributing to the page to give it the extra rank considering it's all inside an iframe?
Even so, I'd venture a guess that a local Wordpress blog would contribute more value than an embedded Blogger. Thoughts?
