G is cracking down very hard on blogspot blogs. Best to invest $10 in your own domain and use blogger that way. They won't delete your blog if you host it on your own name, and you'll still be able to manage/post messages to your blogs from anywhere in the world.
You should definitely own you own domain if you are going to invest your time and money into building it up. And you should definitely back up your web sites!
