Blogger.com takes big steps to block automated posts

Anyone logging into www.blogger.com is going to find image verification is required to post on their own blog. This also extends to the BlogThis! shortcut used in the browser.

Clearly an attempt by Google to get tough on the scraper blogs and automated posting.

Ouch! If that was how you played the game!

They say 'Blog and Ping' is one of the biggest ways to get blackhat sites indexed, so I guess this is a good move to try to stop spam. Too bad it has to piss off all the legitimate bloggers in the process... At least it shouldn't damage whitehats like Jagger did....

Is this for blospot.com hosted blogs? Or self-hosted blogs as well?

There's no doubt blogger.com was being used in spamming. This is a broad stroke to help put an end to it.

Maybe once Google stops that spam, they'll go through and un-penalize/un-ban all the poor white hat souls that were destroyed by Jagger...

I suspect that during the next update, many sites dependent on the spammed links and those that use the scraper-blog to generate posts (and spam-links) will get obliterated from the serps.

It also stands to reason that those blogs which do not get updated since the introduction of the image verification system being put in place will also get deleted. So if you have any blogs you want to keep, you might want to take a few minutes and add a few posts to keep them current. ;)

I've just been checking this out and it's a definite drive by Google to zap spam-blogs. Apparently, my own blogs had been flagged as spam -- well, according to the bumph I read after clicking on the help button.
An interesting approach by Google: put up with the word verification with each and every post, including edits, or have a human review the blog to turn off automatic word verification.

Can anyone tell me how long they have had to wait before having a human review the blog to turn off automatic word verification please?

Doesn't usually take too long - a day or two at the most.

I Had already having these image verifications 1 month ago.

I just clicked on the question mark beside it and in a new page applied for no verification confirmation.

Naxt day i got a mail from them that they don't require any image verification in my blogs posting.
