I have just learned how to do sitemaps for blooger.com Blogs but I am curious when you submit to Google sitemaps and they ask you to verify your site to use all the tracking tools. Is there a way to do it in the new blogger.com? It says to upload a file or add a meta tag but I cannot figure out how to do either. The old system it was easy to add meta tags but the new blogger, the only way I can find is to change the whole template. Any ideas? Second question. My blog shows up in Google but has a generic blogger descprition about blogger.com, is there a way to add my own so search engines can read it? Or do I have to rewrite the template?
For sitemap you can try submitting http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml or http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/rss.xml
Well just go in your Google webmaster tool than add your site. To verify your site please use code which provide by Google and put it before first </Head> code. Than click on "add your sitemap" and put your xml. url by this way. http://blogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml That's it.
the best thing you can do is, Copy the Meta Tag and Place the tag anywhere between <head> and </head> and you are done
Thanks for the replies. I already had done the site maps and I was asking how to put it in the new blogger.com templates to verify. I know how to do it for a regular website but is there a way to do it in the blogger.com templates without rewriting the whole template? The templates do not just allow you to add a meta tag. Does anyone know how to do this?
Ok I figured it out, you place the meta code that Google gives you into the template right befor the</head> towards the bottom of the html code. It has to be the last thing added before the </head> or it will not work. Hope this helps anyone else who is trying to figure it out. This is to verify your site with Google. To add site maps just goto to Google Wemaster tools and find site maps enter your site in the list and goto add site maps and enter this : http:// "yourblogname".blogspot.com/atom.xml Out your name is where it says your blog name and remove the quotation marks. Hope this helps other trying to figure out how to verify their blogger.com site.
