yes i think thats one big issue with the beta. And asking us to get a blogspot blog as the only choice is kind of too much. blogger is going to loose quite some blogger cos' of this.

I agree. I know at least one really decent blog using blogspot. I'm sure there are others. But I'd think that a lot of people who have been doing it much longer than I have at least would be more interested in hosting their blogs on their own domains. You'd think they'd be worried about losing some serious bloggers.

From what I could tell at the time, it didn't sound like it was something only in beta. They made it sound like it wouldn't ever support FTP like the current system does. They also made it sound to me like they were saying the technology itself involved in the beta couldn't be adapted to FTP or something. The way I see it is that if WP and others can allow the same features on your own domain, and that's who Blogger needed to try to compete with, they ought to have put together a solution that could completely hold its own. If anyone's read anything that hints that they'll eventually have something available off-blogspot, I'd love to hear about it. :)

I too think the ftp and own domain support will be history by the end of the "beta" phase of Beta. With Blogger Beta accounts synch'd with Google accounts, and all.

Besides, from what I can see, there's a huge script engine running in the background of Blogger Beta to cope with the dynamic publishing. I doubt Google would decide to give it away to download and use on your own host.

But I do like the Beta, anyways. The published code seems to change a bit everyday, and I hope the hard work is for the better and not worse.

Eh I've never liked blogger. Instantspot.com is better in my opinion for what I like to do. Instantspot is up-and-coming and will have a lot of features the others don't/ Plus I don't like supporting the bigger companys
