this is for all those who are interested in knowing what the new blogger beta have for all bloggers but are too lazy to register a new blog only to check the features.
some of the cool features of the beta are:
    page elements in template section
    labels or categories
default rss feed in the blog
    changing blog colors from gui
    future and past dated posts

and some small things that i might have missed.
you can check detailed review if you are interested

looking at the beta trend going on i think its going to be a while before blogger.com comes out of its new beta and offers the final release. And still i won't be much interested in it given the fact that they don't allow html editor at the moment.

Ummm, HTML Editor???... I've been editing my HTML with my Blogger site for nearly 2-years...

If you mean a *Actual, Real HTML Editor (program)* then no Blogger ain't got one as far as I know...

Guys I`m very new to blogger, but I can't find how caterogize posts, or blogger.com doesnt have this ?
After releasing a final version, they will include features into old blogs, or am I wrong?

Sure... now that I've been getting ready to move to WP on one of my blogs b/c of the category issue they're implementing that feature. Blah.

So any thoughts on whether it would be better just to go ahead with the switch (I prefer Blogger's backend over WP though), or just wait it out with Blogger?

no KeithLDick, when i said html editor i was talking about what you are using from last two years! Yes in new blogger beta the option for editing raw html is not yet active. So you are stick with their page elements.

To add a new category or Label just write the name in the right bottom corner of your post editor and this post would be posted in that label

and guys you can do it in your old blogger blogs if they have not enabled the feature in your blogs, acutally they haven't upgraded ALL old blogs , only a few.
    any more questions?

yes, i am pretty impressed with all the features it has added. But i think worpress would still be on top because of all the plugins programmers are developing around the world ;-)

OK, well this bites. :( I was hoping I'd be able to stay with Blogger then instead of transferring to WP as planned, now that categories (label) are enabled. But I host my blog on my own domain, and the new features are only available if you use a blogspot address for hosting... not interested. I host everything myself, and don't know why it would make sense to change. :( So out of curiosity... before I go ahead with a WP transfer, is there anything I should know similarly? Such as, am I able to get full functionality (most importantly with categories) if I'm hosting on my own domain using WP? Thanks!

I have no idea how long would blogger be in beta, so if you want to stay with blogger and want labels then i m afraid you have to wait for some time.

also there are few new features that one cannot use if they are using FTP blogs (that is having their own domain and using ftp).

About WP, yes you can have categories in WP on your own domains as well as on free wp blogs. Check out wordpress.com or blogsome.com if you want to try wordpress blogs.

They specifically say they're not making these features available to those using ftp, so even waiting it out isn't going to help in my case. :( So I'll definitely have to switch over to WP. Thanks. :)

They won't let you transfer unless you happen to be in the group with the link to the option in your dashboard's sidebar. I was about to just start a new one and set up the ftp to my same domain and remove the old one, but that's when I found out you can't have the beta version with ftp. :( If you don't have much up, it wouldn't be hard to just start a new one... although you'll likely need a slightly different name.

No. When I tried to sign up in the beta, it said the dynamic features being released in the beta will not be supported on FTP blogs, and they made no mention of a possibility of it happening in the future. As a matter of fact, they specifically push you to switch to a blogspot blog.
